Ice dam protection
Massachusetts code calls for an ice barrier at the eaves. We run ice and water shield past the warm wall line, and higher up the roof where your house needs it.
Most asphalt roofs on the North Shore last 20 to 25 years. After that, patching turns into a yearly expense. If you see curled or cracked shingles, granules in the gutters, daylight in the attic, or leaks in more than one spot, a replacement usually costs less over the next ten years than chasing repairs.
Freddy walks the roof and the attic with you before anything is quoted. You get a written, itemized number and an honest answer on whether you need a full replacement or whether a repair buys you a few more good years.
Roofs here fail in winter, not summer. Heat escaping from the attic melts snow on the upper roof, the water refreezes at the cold eaves, and an ice dam pushes water back under the shingles. A new roof is the right moment to fix that for good.

Shingles go on with the manufacturer's high-wind nailing pattern and are sealed at the rakes and ridge, where blow-offs start.
Balanced intake and exhaust keeps the attic cold in winter, which is what stops ice dams from forming in the first place.

Massachusetts allows at most two layers of shingles. Even when a second layer is allowed, we usually recommend a tear-off so we can see the deck, fix rot, and install ice and water shield properly. If your roof already has two layers, a tear-off is required.
